The World of FORMULA 1™ hits the track with back to back weekends at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria; July, 3rd, 4th, 11th and 12th 2020!
The FORMULA 1™ season is finally on! In a few days, the power units aka engines will be roaring in Spielberg at the Austria’s Red Bull Racing Track, after a stand still of 3 months. Now, that's the real: "Sound of Music" to our petrol heads ears! As we all know, 3 months is endless for motorsports aficionados and F1™ fans!
For the past few weeks, professional sport has been slowly returning back to life and for good reason.
The 2020 FORMULA 1™ AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX double header, will take place on July 5th behind closed doors and with no fan attendance, which comes after the cancellation of several GRAND PRIX worldwide.
However, if everything goes as planned, F1™ plans to run 15 to 18 races globally by the end of the 2020 season ending in December, which will enable it to host a World Championship approved by the governing body of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) who grants rights for all forms of motor sport using four or more wheels.
Some of the initial races will have no fans and only time will tell, if motorsports enthusiasts will be allowed back trackside with the media, to follow their favorite team and drivers. Silverstone officials as well as the police, already warned fans to stay away or the repercussions will be disastrous and they will jeopardize the 2020 FIA World Championship season.
In this revised 2020 calendar, for the moment, the FORMULA 1™ GRAND PRIX DU CANADA is not on the calendar but promoters are still in talks with a tentative date in the fall of October 2020, probably during Canadian long Thanksgiving weekend October 10th and 11th ...but with all due respect, even if there is a race, as we mentioned during our interview with CBC News, even if there is a race, it's like a no race deal, as without fans, we are geared up for a bland Montreal no party weekend!

The teams and their drivers will visit Europe in July and August, before heading to: Eurasia, Asia and Americas in September, October and November. The Middle East is expected to close this unusual season in December.
Cancelled Grand Prix:
The FORMULA 1™ AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX, FORMULA 1™ GRAND PRIX DE MONACO, FORMULA 1™ GRAND PRIX DE FRANCE, FORMULA 1™ DUTCH GRAND PRIX,, FORMULA 1™, FORMULA 1™ AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX, FORMULA 1™ SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX, FORMULA 1™ JAPANESE GRAND PRIX Japan have been definitively cancelled for this season.
Under strict health restrictions:
In order to satisfy the present World Health Organization health officials and the GRAND PRIX™ promoters and the fans, F1™ organizers had to put a very complex strategy against COVID-19, with the Austrian public health authorities.
In this health plan, the number of people is limited in the pit, sanitary controls are planned before leaving towards the country where the race will take place as well as at the arrival and every two days thereafter.
Also, racing teams will be isolated from each other to prevent spread and limited essential staff. They will also be kept away from the general public, except during flights, transportation on site and in the hotel. Media will also be limited, no access to drivers for pre and post interviews, no driver parades and no champagne celebrations after the iconic winners' "jump" on the podium. Oh! How fun?
Before the driver market and 2021 FORMULA 1™ car design changes delayed…
Some drivers played the game of the musical chair during this imposed break, swapping their team for another one next season. This was the case of Carlos Sainz, the current McLaren driver who took the available seat at Scuderia Ferrari, due to Sebastian Vettel’s impromptu leave. DP World Renault F1® Team’s Daniel Ricciardo jumped in and seized the opportunity at McLaren by filling the seat left by Sainz.
Where will Vettel go? A lot of rumours are spiralling towards Mercedes AMG Petronas Motorsports F1™ Team…
No one knows for the moment and all possibilities are still open. One thing is certain, the German driver will try everything in this shortened season in order to return on the first step of the podium and, who knows, get the title of 2020 FIA Driver World Championship, one last time (perhaps) as he may retire.
Changes have also been announced by the FIA World Council for the 2021 season and beyond. Among them, there is the budgetary ceiling which will be $145 M and will be decreasing to reach 135 M in 2025. F1™ will also use a handicap system for the best performing teams. The car was also suppose to have a radical new design and huge technical overhauls but due to the current pandemic, this will be postponed to 2022, as the idea was to decrease the turbulent wake of the car as explained in the image showed below, to make the cars more stable and have more suctioned ground effect to enable more stability and passing action.
